As part of its philosophy to develop a younger audience, a small group of Ipswich Orchestral Society Members visits local schools. 

In 2007 eight Members, playing various musical instruments, visited Ravenswood Primary School giving short demonstrations and playing to the schoolchildren in two sessions.  As a direct result of this initiative, a group of young musicians from the school took part in the IOS Family Concert in March 2007.

In 2008 a string quintet, clarinettist and trombonist visited Gatacre Primary School, again demonstrating and performing to the whole school.  A number of complimentary tickets were offered to the school to encourage their young pupils to come and listen to a live performance at the IOS Family Concert in 2008.

This policy of active contact with the young community in our schools continues to be a feature of the Ipswich Orchestral Society’s outreach work.
